Tsiko Mashau

Hi! I'm Tsiko, the IT Applications Intern. I am originally from South Africa and travelled to the UK to pursue my degree in BSc Computer Science at Liverpool John Moores University. I work alongside Daniel Harrison (IT Solutions Architect) as well as the rest of the Applications team. I’m loving the experience so far as I get the opportunity to grow and contribute to meaningful innovation - every day brings something new to learn! Moreover, I’m proud to be part of such a dynamic and supportive company!

What attracted you to TIP Group?

The fact that working at TIP as an intern is not just about gaining experience, it’s about having the chance to contribute real value and make a difference while learning. I also love the TIP Insight (telematics) features they have for their products - it attracted me to wanting to learn more about the company and the technologies they use and build for the business. Most importantly the unity of the employees.

Describe your experience at TIP in three words:

Supportive, Transformative and Exciting

What does a typical day for you involve?

A typical day for me at TIP involves conducting daily stand-up meetings with the teams I collaborate with on various projects, as part of the Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC). My work includes researching solutions to technical problems and bridge the gap between development, TIP’s business needs, and its unique way of working. I also document project requirements and track progress to ensure alignment and transparency.

Some days, I get to visit other TIP branches to test newly developed TIP apps. This gives me valuable insight into the user experience and a glimpse into the mechanical side of TIP’s operations. No two days are the same, which makes the work exciting. You’re guaranteed to learn something new every day — all within a supportive environment!

What have you learned/developed since the start of your internship?

I've gained hands-on experience in project management, building and testing AI-powered translation models, and automating workflows with Power Automate. I've enhanced user interfaces by developing PowerApps and redesigning an API portal using Azure API Management. My work involves cross-departmental coordination, documenting project architecture in LeanIX, Lastly reporting and working in a team with the current interns on the intern requitement process – has greatly improved my team work and time management skills. I'm excited to continue learning, developing, and growing my skills in this dynamic environment.

What is your favourite thing about working for TIP?
