Amy Pointer

Hi, I’m Amy the IT Project Management & Business Operation Intern. I am from Manchester and study Business Management at the University of Liverpool. Working with the project management team, and under the guidance of Sam, I have already learnt so much and I am looking forward to continuing to grow and contribute during my time here at TIP Group.

What has attracted you to TIP Group?

I was attracted to TIP Group because I wanted a placement that could offer me a hands-on experience in a professional environment. I’ve always known I wanted to go into project management, so having the chance to apply what I had learnt at university, and learn some new IT skills was a fantastic opportunity.

Describe your experience at TIP in three words?

Challenging, Engaging, Collaborative

What does a typical day for you involve?

Every day is completely different! I support project managers with their project, answer emails, organise and host meetings and more… I also have weekly tasks that help to keep me busy.

What have you learnt / developed since the start of your internship?

Since the beginning of this placement, I have learned so much already from how to format emails and growing my confidence by hosting teams meetings. Coming from a business background, I have also learnt so much about IT and how important it is!

What is your favourite thing about working at TIP?

My favourite thing about working at TIP is the people. Everyone has been so welcoming and happy to help. Getting to go through this experience with other interns has also been very rewarding as we are all going through the same journey.

What is one thing that instantly makes your day better?

Coffee & House music :)

What is the best place you have ever travelled to? What did you like?

Thailand & Vietnam (I couldn’t pick one) – The culture was amazing.

What is your favourite movie / tv show?

Gilmore girls

How would your friends describe you?

Spontaneous

What is on your bucket list?

To skydive over the Great Barrier Reef in Australia!!

About the Role

The Role:

  • Building and maintaining relationships globally with key stakeholders and both internal and external contacts
  • Close collaboration with project managers/leaders and development teams regarding release management activities
  • Engage in strategic projects and support the project management team in meeting participation and key project-related activities
  • Working with the IT Integrations project manager to help manage the acquisitions 
  • Working under NDA (non-disclosure agreement) and understanding to keep information confidential
  • Opportunity to work alongside fellow interns on a designated short-term project
  • Requirements gathering and supporting the delivery of IT solutions
  • IT Budget management
  • Process IT Purchase Orders and manage invoices
  • Opportunity to join the volunteering committee to help plan and organise quarterly events
  • Be part of an engaging, cross-functional team

Skills and Competencies:

  • IT or Business related degree preferred
  • Team player with strong interpersonal skills
  • Customer and goal-oriented with attention to detail
  • Logical approach to problem-solving
  • Ability to prioritise and work on multiple projects at any one time
