Jessica Woodall

Hi! I am Jess, the marketing intern. I am originally from Lichfield, near Birmingham and I am studying marketing at Nottingham Trent University. I am really enjoying my placement - it is very fast-paced but you get to be involved in lots of different things and gain a lot of experience and skills.

What attracted you to TIP Group?
The marketing placement was extremely varied in the responsibilities you have compared to other placements. You do a bit of everything at TIP - social media, website, designing flyers and advertisements, event management and more. When I was looking at other marketing placements, they typically only focussed on one of these areas. I also liked that it was in Manchester as it meant I could move to and explore a new city.
Describe your experience at TIP in three words:
Varied, fast-paced and fun.
What does a typical day for you involve?
My days vary quite a lot! There are tasks I do more often, such as updating the website and posting on social media. Designing content is also something I do fairly regularly, whether it be for advertisements, flyers or anything else.  There are many 'one-off' tasks or small projects to do each week, so no two days are ever the same! The only part of my day which stays the same is receiving and answering emails.

What have you learned/developed since the start of your internship?
This placement has taught me so much already. I think the biggest thing I have learned is how to prioritise and manage multiple tasks at once. This is something I have slightly struggled with at university and this job has helped me to understand how I should organise not only my workload but myself. I have also developed my Adobe Suite skills a lot. I had a small amount of Photoshop experience before working at TIP but now I can use more features. I have also learned how to use InDesign and Illustrator.

What is your favourite thing about working for TIP?
The people - everybody here is really nice and have been so welcoming! I have made friends not only in-work but outside of it too :)

What is on your bucket list?
To go to a Pitbull concert!!

Do you have a secret talent?
I can make origami paper cranes

Is there a football team that you support?
Aston Villa

Have you ever met a celebrity?
Ted Kravitz! He is a pundit for Sky Sports F1 and as a huge fan of the sport (and of him) I was so excited to meet him.

What is your most treasured possession?
I entered a competition and won a signed mini helmet of my favourite F1 driver, Lando Norris.
