Philip Roberts

I'm Philip, the IT Security Intern at TIP-Group. I find immense satisfaction in being a part of the IT Security Team, where we constantly exchange ideas and thoughts to enhance the company's IT security. I couldn't be happier with my progress, having already made a positive impact and learning many new skills you cannot easily learn in a classroom. Interning at TIP-Group is a fantastic opportunity. Although I have only been working here for a short period, I have already been made to feel like a vital member of the team.

What attracted you to TIP Group?

TIP’s reputation initially attracted me to the company. I was attracted to the position due to the prospects of being able to work on live projects which have an overall impact on the company.

Describe your experience at TIP in three words:

Trusted, accountable, and reliant.

What does a typical day for you involve?

Working closely with the IT Security Engineer and Manager, managing identified vulnerabilities, organising company policies, and keeping up to date with the latest security threats.

What have you learned/developed since the start of your internship?

I have learnt a lot about working with external security vendors. How the penetration testing process works, and how to then manage the results effectively.

What is your favourite thing about working for TIP?

I really like the small team I work in. Although it is small there is a lot of experience where it is easy to learn.

What is your favourite random fact?

Orcas are part of the dolphin family, not whales.

Have you ever met a celebrity /which celebrity would you like to meet?

I once met David Dickinson at Bedworth Civic Hall, he hugged me.

What is your favorite snack?

Greggs’ sausage rolls. They’re my kryptonite!

What is your most treasured possession?

My Surly Cross-Check (Bicycle) I saved up for months for it. I do all the maintenance on it myself. It is my pride and joy.

What is your most unpopular opinion?

Leonardo DiCaprio didn’t deserve an Oscar for his role in The Revenant. He was given it out of pity.
