Meet the Mechanic - Vincent

How did you begin working in the trailer industry?

When I was younger, I always helped my dad fix vehicles, so when I left school, I enrolled onto a YTS apprenticeship. It was a 3-year apprenticeship and once qualified I went on to work in the army for 6 years! A couple of the guys in the workshop actually trained me in my apprenticeship over 35 years ago so joining TIP was like a mini reunion and a blast from the past.

What’s your favourite thing about working for TIP?

The company really looks after mechanics with all the benefits on offer. The pension and healthcare are really great to have and I haven’t worked anywhere else that looks after the mechanics so well.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I have my hands full with four grandkids now that my kids are grown up! When I get a minute, I like to work on rebuilding my motorbike which is almost complete!

Can you tell us an interesting fact about yourself?

When I worked in the army, I was the 29th solider who entered Iraq in 2003. I also married my wife 12 days before this!

Would you like to work in Vincent's team? We currently have several mechanic and mobile mechanic vacancies based at / from a number of our branches across the UK and Ireland.
