How long have you been in the industry and how did you get into it?

I have been in the transport industry for 10 years. I started as an operations assistant at the Carrington branch after being recommended for the position by Mark Youd who already worked there.

I then moved into the assistant branch operations manager role in 2016 at Carrington, where I developed my managerial skills. I also learnt a lot more about trailers by looking after the workshop whilst the workshop manager was off on long-term leave.

I became workshop manager in 2019 which was challenging but taught me a lot along the way and it was great to have my own team.

In 2021, I was offered a great opportunity to join the remarketing team. I had sales experience prior to working at TIP and further developed my customer service skills when I was working in the branch as an operations assistant. I decided to go ahead and join the team - it has now been nearly 2 years and I have enjoyed every single day since!

What are the top 3 things you like about working for TIP?

For me, TIP is like a big family, as everyone knows each other and is willing to help when needed. I feel secure working at TIP as I know it will continue to grow more and more each year. I also love that we always get looked after professionally and personally.

What are the most valuable skills you learnt/developed whilst working for TIP Used?

Customer/people skills, teamwork and time keeping and task management.

What does a typical day for you involve?

Going through the stock of units/assets that we have for sale and pricing them. Advertising stock and engaging with customers over LinkedIn & other social media platforms. Creating pricing lists and sending them over to customers and creating invoices. Locating assets in the yard & releasing/handing them over to customers.

What is your biggest work achievement?

My proudest work achievement stems from my solid commitment to giving my best effort in every task I undertake at TIP. Whether it's managing projects, sales, collaborating with colleagues, or addressing challenges, I approach each opportunity with dedication and a genuine desire to contribute positively to TIP’s success. I firmly believe that every project, no matter the scale, holds significance, and I find great joy in knowing that my hard work and dedication have made a meaningful impact on the organisation. I'm grateful for the opportunities I've been given to grow and learn, and I remain committed to continuously improving and delivering results that align with TIP's goals.

Check the spec and ensure it’s suitable for the operation you require it for.

Always try and view the trailer/truck in person to ensure there are no issues prior to purchase.

Check and ensure that you are purchasing from a reliable source/company.

What’s the process like when purchasing a used trailer/truck from TIP Used?

The process is very straightforward. We have branches all around the UK, and when a customer is looking to purchase a trailer, we aim to provide a sales list with photos near to their location. The customer will then view their desired trailer, and if they are happy to go ahead, we will raise an invoice for the payment. The trailer will then be checked over in our workshop to ensure that there are no issues and that it’s safe to go on the road.
