TIP Apprenticeships - Chanelle

Why did you decide to go down the apprenticeship route?
I felt like I was ready for a challenge. I wanted to gain real life experience in a working environment and felt like I was ready to take on a full-time job. I also wanted to learn about how a business works, whilst getting a qualification in Business Administration.
How has your apprenticeship helped you with your work at TIP Trailer Services?
My apprenticeship taught me about business, including PESTLE analysis and how this impacts businesses.
I also learnt about professionalism, how to speak and write in a professional manner at TIP. I improved my communication skills whilst being here, which has helped me to communicate with different stakeholders.
What is the difference between learning online full time and learning on the job?
With learning on the job, I got more practical experience and I found it easier as I was actually doing the job rather than just learning about it.
Another difference was that I was able to shadow and learn from the HR Manager and HR Leader who work with me in my team.
What skills have you learnt whilst on your apprenticeship?
Communication skills, professionalism, customer service, time management and prioritising.
What have been some of the highlights of your apprenticeship?
Completing my apprenticeship! My end-point assessment was also a highlight, I scored top marks and came out with a distinction.
Another highlight was being promoted to HR Administrator once I completed my apprenticeship. It’s also nice to be part of a great team!
What would you say to others who are thinking of applying for an apprenticeship?
Go for it! If you do, make sure you keep focused and put 100% effort in. You will get the outcome that you want. Once you have passed, all of the hard work will be worth it and you will be so proud of yourself.
What are your plans for the future?
I am currently working on my CIPD Level 3 and want to complete this by the end of the year and further my career in HR.
