TIP delivers major fleet upgrade for Bunzl Retail Supplies

New Bunzl trucks & trailers

TIP Group has supported Bunzl Retail Supplies with a major upgrade of its fleet, supplying a mix of new trucks and trailers alongside a significant trailer refurbishment programme.

Under a new long‑term hire agreement, TIP provided new SDC curtainsider and box van trailers, plus DAF tractor units and rigids, all featuring updated Bunzl branding. The trailers are equipped with tail lifts and TIP Insight’s BrakePlus system to boost safety, compliance and efficiency. TIP will also deliver ongoing maintenance, repair and compliance management.

A key focus of the project was sustainability. Instead of replacing all assets with new units, Bunzl chose to have part of its existing fleet fully refurbished at TIP’s 41‑bay trailer refurbishment facility in Stoke‑on‑Trent that is dedicated to trailer refurbs. The refurbishment included comprehensive bodywork prep and repaint, component replacement, BrakePlus installation and fitment of new livery.

Refurbishing 30 trailers delivered an estimated 350 tCO₂e emissions saving compared with emissions generated from manufacturing new units, an aspect of the agreement that supported Bunzl’s wider environmental strategy.

The combined approach of supplying new equipment and extending the life of existing assets enhances Bunzl’s fleet performance while contributing to a more sustainable operation. TIP Group continues to support the business through flexible, efficient and environmentally responsible fleet solutions.
