TIP and GreenChill make sustainable refrigeration more accessible

TIP has partnered with GreenChill Systems to help temperature-controlled transport operators access more sustainable refrigeration technology without the need for upfront capital investment.

GreenChill’s solar-electric refrigeration system can be retrofitted to refrigerated trailers already in operation, allowing fleets to adopt lower-emission technology without replacing existing assets. The system uses an onboard battery, supported by solar panels fitted to the trailer roof, to power the trailer’s refrigeration unit, with the existing diesel unit retained as a backup.

Through TIP, operators can lease the system for a monthly cost, helping to remove some of the financial barriers associated with adopting new technology.

Operators can also experience the technology within their own fleet through TIP’s ‘try-before-you-hire’ scheme, providing an opportunity to assess its environmental and cost-saving potential before making a longer-term commitment.
