TIP agrees long term hire of two e-reefers with Chiltern Distribution

TIP has agreed a long-term hire arrangement with Cambridgeshire-based cold chain operator Chiltern Distribution for two new temperature-controlled trailers equipped with Sunswap’s Endurance refrigeration units.

The Sunswap system’s on-board battery is charged via the grid at Chiltern Distribution’s depots, but this is supplemented by solar-powered charging, courtesy of roof-mounted panels fitted to the trailer. This helps to extend the operating range and, along with a trailer specification that is optimised to get the best from the system, ensure the elimination of the need for diesel-powered refrigeration.

The new SOR-manufactured e-reefers have been added to Chiltern Distribution’s fleet to support the transportation of chilled, frozen, ambient and pharmaceutical goods across the UK.

Chiltern Distribution selected the solution following a successful trial within its operation which demonstrated the solution met their temperature monitoring and compliance needs.

The agreement highlights TIP’s continued commitment to supporting customers in their transition to more sustainable transport solutions through access to innovative trailer and refrigeration technologies.
