Meet the New Starter - Daniel Marsland

What attracted you to the role at TIP?

I have a friend who already works here. He explained what it's like, what he did, and spoke very highly about it. I looked into TIP on their website and could see it was clearly a company growing and improving. It’s something I wanted to be a part of. It was the right time for me to change jobs and experience a much better working environment. Somewhere I could enjoy working and find job satisfaction.

What excites you most about your new role with TIP?

New challenges, new things to learn as well. It’s pushed me to learn more about a field I haven’t worked in before and to improve my computer skills. The opportunity to grow and work in a much more positive, friendly working environment too. It’s been a great feeling to be so supported and welcomed as soon as I started.

What skills do you hope to bring to TIP?

I am a quick learner and have been able to adapt to what is being asked of me. I have always been good at self-managing and prioritising my workload.

What is your biggest work-related achievement?

Being an operations manager in the busiest M&S store outside of London, especially during peak time. I worked hard to move up a career ladder in one company already and covered a wide variety of areas as I did so.

What is your biggest personal achievement?

My family, although my wife may say that’s down to her.

At this stage of your career, where do you see yourself next year? 3 years from now? 5 years?

At TIP progressing in my career.

How do you like to start your day?

A nice hot coffee and taking Roxy, our Staffie, out for her morning walk.

What’s one thing you’re learning now or learned recently?

How to wallpaper, although I don’t want to do it again.

What behaviour or personality trait do you most attribute your success to, and why?

Trustworthiness, whether it’s at home, with my friends or at work, I am always trusted and relied upon, no matter what it concerns.

What three words would your friends use to describe you?

Trustworthy, reliable and a loud drunk

What makes a good co-worker?

Always helping when you can

Who inspires you?

My dad

What do you like to do in your spare time?

Spend time with my family, going out for walks. When I get time to myself I’ll be at the gym or watching some sport on TV.
