TIP Mechanic Academy Class of ‘25 Graduate

Delighted to report that the entire TIP Mechanic Academy (TMA) class of 24-25 has graduated from their 9-month training programme to qualify as professional trailer mechanics.

TIP's unique mechanic training programme was launched in the autumn of 2023 to provide students with trailer-dedicated mechanic training in just 9 months, as opposed to the norm for HGV certification of 3 to 4 years. The training provides the students with independent, professional certification, which now includes CPD certification.

Over the 9 months, the students received in-depth training on all aspects of trailer maintenance via a combination of classroom-based and workshop-based training, which was supplemented by online course material. The training culminated with assessment via written examinations and practical-based tasks at the purpose-built training facility at TIP Nuneaton.

At the ‘uni-style’ graduation ceremony, the students received their certificates and celebrated with a spot of lunch ahead of a return to their respective TIP branches.

The "newly qualified mechanics" will now support the maintenance and repair services that TIP provides its customers from its network of workshops across the UK.

Kerr said “I have really enjoyed my time at the TIP Mechanic Academy. Coming here each month was great, especially to catch up with the other trainees and discuss the practical assignments we had completed back at the workshop. The support from the whole team has been fantastic.”

Charlie said “the Academy has been well organised from the start and the support from the instructors, and my mentor back at my branch, has been really important to me in graduating. Now I’m looking forward to furthering my career at TIP.”

Congratulations Joe, Kai, Kerr, Ellis, Jake, Michael, James, Patrick, Charlie, Andy, Matthew, Ryan, Sam & Jude !

Work now begins on the recruitment drive for the next intake of students later this year.
