TIP rolls out BPW equipment training for its mechanics
TIP has partnered with axle and suspension system provider BPW to train hundreds of its trailer technicians.
The joint initiative is updating and improving the skills of more than 150 of TIP’s technicians who are being trained on the latest BPW technologies.
Training courses actually commenced in April and are continuing every other week covering heavy axles, drum / disc brakes and suspension systems. Courses have a practical element to them, with trainees being able to strip and re-build hub assemblies.
Upon successful completion, technicians receive a ‘BPW Approved Maintenance Technician’ certificate which is valid for three years.
The training is also offered to TIP’s nationwide network of authorised service providers.
With training on an ongoing basis, it is expected that more than 300 technicians will ultimately be trained annually making TIP the largest employer of BPW trained technicians in the country.
In addition, TIP’s network of workshops are recognised ‘BPW Approved Maintenance Network & Service Stations’, following a programme of training on axles and brake maintenance techniques over a period of nine months. Thirty TIP locations now have BPW approval.
