TIP’s ‘Fat Bottomed Boys & Girls’ charity cycling team returns for 12th time with ambitious £100,000 target
PRESS RELEASE: 9th April 2026
Manchester, UK – April 9th, 2026 – TIP’s cycling team, affectionately known as the ‘Fat Bottomed Boys & Girls’, will return to the saddle in May for its 12th charity bike ride, with the ambitious target to raise £100,000 for the Douglas Macmillan hospice in Staffordshire.
This year’s challenge, named the ‘TIP Bull Run’, will see around 55 cyclists drawn from TIP, its customers and partners from across the UK and Irish transport industries to take on a demanding three-day route through southern Spain.
Spanning approximately 350 kilometres and featuring around 3,500 metres of climbing, the route is expected to be one of the toughest the team has ever tackled.
Day one will see the riders travel 120 kilometres from Seville to the historic city of Cordoba, including more than 1,000 metres of climbing. However, day two presents the biggest challenge with a 140 kilometre route through the mountains from Cordoba to Antequera National Park, including more than 1,500 metres of climbing. The final day covers the final 80 kilometres or so into Malaga, with a morning of yet more demanding climbs before dropping down to the city’s famous bull ring.
As ever, the ‘Fat Bottomed Boys & Girls’ team is made up of riders of all ages, sizes, experience and ability, from seasoned cyclists to complete beginners. The only essential requirement is enthusiasm and a determination to support an important cause.
The Dougie Mac children’s hospice provides specialist care and support to children, young people and adults with life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families.
“The 12th edition of our charity bike ride promises to be one of the most challenging and rewarding yet,” said Mike Furnival, Managing Director of TIP, UK & Ireland. “The route through southern Spain will test everyone involved, but we know from experience that the team will rise to the challenge.
“We’re incredibly proud that over the past 11 rides we have raised more than €880,000 for charity. Reaching our £100,000 target this year would take us beyond €1 million in total, which would be a remarkable milestone and one we hope everyone across the industry will help us achieve.
“The Dougie Mac children’s hospice carries out extraordinary work supporting families through incredibly difficult times and we are honoured to support them.”
TIP is encouraging individuals and organisations from across the transport and logistics sector to support the team through sponsorship and donations.
